Bang Espresso first launched in Cairns in August 2008 with a vision to eventually be recognised as the most professional, most skilled, most consistent and most respected provider of specialty coffee in Australia. After travelling the world and spending time at a myriad of different styles of cafes, we came to the conclusion that the key to a truly sensational coffee experience is almost equal parts: exceptional coffee; friendly, professional and unobtrusive service; and relaxed yet inspired surrounds and ambiance.

Spence Street is a bustling and lively part of Cairns that is increasing in popularity. It is the main street into town and leads directly to the Reef Fleet Terminal for catching Ferries to the reef and islands. It’s a great place to people watch and a great place to be seen. Inside is cool and comfortable. We have two communal tables strewn with newspapers and quality magazines so you can feel perfectly comfortable relaxing with a coffee on your own. And by the front door is a comfy old club chair where you can put your feet up and flick through one of the classic novels retrieved from the bang bookshelf against the back wall. Adding to the chatter of happy and caffeinated customers over the tunes in the background is the constant click clacking of the coffee grinders (your coffee is ground literally seconds before it is delivered to you), the hum of the Synesso and the gentle hissing sounds of the milk being steamed. Smell, sip, watch, read, listen, relax.
